Presence

I thoughts arise, remain present in that state;

if no thoughts arise, remain present in that state;

there is no difference in the presence in either state.

Base

It is quite impossible to find the Buddha anywhere other than in once’s own mind.

A person who is ignorant of this may seek externally, but how is it possible to find oneself through seeking anywhere other than in oneself!

Someone who seeks their own nature externally is like a fool who, giving a performance in the middle of a crowd, forgets who he is and then seeks everywhere else to find himself.

Thomas theorem

Thomas theorem is a theory of sociology which was formulated by W. I. Thomas (1863–1947) in the year 1928:

- “If men define situations as real, they are real in their consequences.” -

More quotes from W.I. Thomas:

- “It is not important whether or not the interpretation is correct–if men define situations as real, they are real in their consequences.” -
- “If people view somebody as great, then he is” – another, more specific version of the Thomas theorem -

Sogyal Rinpoche

Samsara is the mind projected outwardly, lost in its projection. Nirvana is the mind turned inwardly, recognizing its true nature.”

Jill Bolte Taylor – Insightful and mind expanding

This already quite an old video by Jill Bolte Taylor at TED. It moved me emotionally but also gave me more insight in the brain and linked it to meditation experiences. I hope you appreciate it as well. Cheers,

Ernest.

Life in the Low Lands

I have been back in ’sweet oll Holland’ for six weeks now. It has been a busy time. I had to find a job and a new place to stay. Since I spent all my money in South America I needed money right away. Hardly any money on my bank account and a big dept. So the first week back I was unemployed, the second week I worked in a bog warehouse as an order picker and the third week I started at the helpdesk of the City of Helmond. About 10 mins. by train from Eindhoven. In the mean time I started applying for jobs that pay a little bit better. Last week I offered a job offer from both Bosch and ASML. In the end I decided to go for ASML. I’ll start working there the 31st of May. In the meantime I’ll keep working for the City of Helmond.

So finding a job is quite exciting by itself. Next to it I went looking for a new home. Last week I also got the news that I got the house I applied for. So more good news! In the mean time I am homeless. Right now I live in the house of a friend of mine and probably move to the appartment of another friend of mine. He’s leaving for a holiday to Cuba, so I can stay at his plac while he is away. I can move into my new house only the 14th of June. So I’ll be homeless for a month more or so. Quite like travelling, moving from place to place and living from a bag. Just got a little more junk, since I don’t have to carry it arround all day ;-) I anybody I met in the America’s is still reading my blog please leave a post or send me an email. Would be nice to hear from you. I miss the live over there… .
